User guide | countertop machines

If you have questions about your Belu countertop filtration machine or chiller, or you need some troubleshooting tips, here is a guide covering all the most commonly asked questions. Hopefully you will swiftly be able to find what you need, but if not, please email operations@belu.org for further help.

Check if your CO2 gas bottle is empty and if so, replace.

1) The amount of CO2 remaining is indicated by the right-hand dial. If the dial is pointing to the red ‘empty’ zone, this means it is time to replace it.
2) To change the CO2 cylinder, first shut off the valve by turning the knob on top of the bottle clockwise.
3) Disconnect the empty cylinder using a spanner.

4) Before connecting the CO2 gauge/pipe to the new cylinder, please ensure that the seal washer is in place.

Please ensure that the seal washer is in place.

5) Fit gauge/pipe to new cylinder, then tighten the nut using a spanner.
6) Slowly open the valve to release gas by turning knob on top of the bottle anti- clockwise. When the hissing stops, open the valve fully.

Check connection of gas bottle is correct – 3 to 4 bar:

1) The ideal setting for your CO2 gas pressure is between 3 to 4 bar, as shown here.
2) Adjust this with the adjuster knob on the front of the gauge. Use a screwdriver.
3) Turning the knob clockwise will increase the pressure, giving more “fizz” to the water.

If that is not the problem, contact operations@belu.org

Isolate the machine from your water supply & contact Operations@belu.org

Check that nothing new has been connected to the same water supply as the filtration system (perhaps a glasswasher, sink or coffee machine). This will slow the flow.

Disconnect the CO2 and reconnect it:

1) Shut off the valve by turning the knob on top of the bottle clockwise.

2) Disconnect the CO2 cylinder using a spanner.
3) Before re-connecting the CO2 gauge/pipe to the cylinder, please ensure that the seal washer * is in place.

4) Fit gauge/pipe to new cylinder, then tighten the nut using a spanner.

5) Slowly open the valve to release gas by turning knob on top of the bottle anti- clockwise. When the hissing stops, open the valve fully.

If that doesn’t work, reset the water block:

  1. Turn the power to the system off at the plug.
  2. Locate your water block which will be on the mains water pipe connected to your Belu Filtration System.
  3. Press the red button all the way down (it may be stiff, but must be pushed all the way).

If your CO2 gas bottle is not empty and is connected correctly, try purging the system.

1) Turn the power to the system off at the plug.

2) Shut off the CO2 gas feed by turning the knob on top of the bottle clockwise.

3) Turn your machine’s power back on and run approximately 2 continuous litres of ‘sparkling’ water. It will come out flat.

First check that your CO2 gas bottle is not empty, the pressure gauge is reading between 3-4 bar, and everything is properly connected.

If that is all ok, try purging the system:

  1. Shut off the CO2 gas feed by turning the knob on top of the bottle clockwise (see pic 1).
  2. Turn water off with white/blue isolator tap.
  3. Press ‘sparkling’ and dispense until no water or gas comes out.

Handling Belu Filter bottles:

  • Belu filter bottles are designed to be filled with Belu filtered sparkling, chilled or unchilled still water only.

  • Never hot water.

  • New bottles should be thoroughly cleaned before use, by hand or in a dishwasher.

  • Before filling your clean bottles, ensure your hands, your filter machine and the surrounding area is clean.

  • Fill only up to the pre-defined volume, do not overfill.

  • Close cap straight after filling.

  • Once bottles are freshly filled with filtered water, they should be stored in a clean, cool place, out of sunlight (preferably a refrigerator) and consumed within one day.

  • Remember that bottles filled with both sparkling and still water are under pressure and shouldn’t be subjected to high temperatures of more than 35 deg C due to the risk of breakage.

  • Use dedicated storage crates and dishwasher racks for both full and empty bottles to reduce the risk of damage.

  • Store empty bottles upright and open in a cool, dry, clean space.

Cleaning Belu Filter bottles:

  • Clean bottles after each use by hand or in a dishwasher.

  • Place bottles open and upside down in the dishwasher rack and do not wash other items (like plates or cutlery) at the same time.

  • In a professional dishwasher: 60-65°C for at least 90 seconds.

  • In a commercial dishwasher: 60-65°C for at least 30 minutes.

  • By hand: 45°C. Use a dedicated cleaning brush and suitable washing up liquid.

  • Always use clean water for washing caps and lids as otherwise they may discolour.

  • After cleaning, keep bottles in the rack, outside the dishwasher for cooling and drying.

  • Do not close the cap on empty bottles (even when cool and dry).

  • Always wait until bottles are clean and dry before refilling.

1) Wash your hands. Put on gloves.
2) Take a CLEAN machine washed bottle. Check there are no cracks or chips.
3) Fill bottle by pressing the button on your BELU filter machine:
4) Check the volume is to the neck of the bottle. If not, follow the portion control instructions to fix.
5) Screw the lid on and add a tamper seal sticker over the lid. Make sure it is straight with wording visible.
6) Place the clean, filled bottle into your crate, ready to distribute.
